New Eric Miyashiro and Wayne Bergeron signature models show a continuing commitment to developing and refining instrumentsof the very highest quality. Yamaha has announced the launch of new YTR-8330EM and YTR-8335LA Custom Trumpets, designed with long-term collaborators Eric Miyashiro and Wayne Bergeron. Both players have contributed to the development of highly regarded Yamaha signature models in the past, and these new instruments build on that success through a process of revisiting and refining every aspect of the instruments’design and construction.
Eric Miyashiro is a first call studio, session, and solo trumpet player, well known for his work with his own bands, and for touring with Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power and many other artists and orchestras around the globe.Working closely with Yamaha technicians, the Hawaii-born graduate of Berklee Collegeof Musicdirected the development of a new signatureYTR-8330EMtrumpetthat refines and upgrades the previous version, released some 17 years ago. The power and response of the original is retained while completely revamping the vital valve casing atthe instrument’s core. Each part has been carefully re-examined and refined as necessary to improvehigh-register playability and overall control, enabling Eric to connect even more directly with his audience.
Described by trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson as “the most musical lead trumpet player I've eve rhad on my band”, Wayne Bergeron is well-known on the international music scene for his ability to bring brilliant performances to a wide range of genres. Equally sought after in screen music, big band, orchestral and other fields, Wayne demands a high degree of flexibility from his instruments,so his first-generation Yamaha Custom Trumpet has been thoroughly re-examined and updated with a new two-piece valve casing, newly-designed stopper screw and new phosphor bronze parts to create an instrument of exceptional versatility. The newYTR-8335LA delivers brilliant high notes, accurate pitch, and rich harmonics that define a new level of playing efficiency and raise custom trumpet performance to soaring new heights.
Commenting on the launch, Yamaha Brass Product Manager Timo Hänf says, “These exceptionalnew Custom Trumpets are evidence of Yamaha’s continuing commitment to collaborating with our international artists in the development of ever more refined and high-performing instruments, inspiring and empowering all musicians to express their creativity”
